Do try 'The Things We Never Say' by the wonderful Elizabeth Strout. Best known for her character Olive Kitteridge, this is very different and moving story set in a small town in Massachusetts.
I think I need to go see the Zubaran. I remember how exquisite his lemon paintings were but have not seen his work for years. Thank you for the reminder! X
Yay for new kitchen happiness 🎉 I like the sound of that New York book. I'm currently reading "Even the good girls will cry- a 90's rock memoir" by Melissa Auf der Maur. Bringing up memories of what it was like growing up in that era of music for me. I just read "Bitter Orange" by Clare Fuller and loved it, not new but a great summer read.
I am such a slow reader that I have to be incredibly picky about what I consume so I seriously appreciate book suggestions that have a proven afterlife beyond all the hype - thank you!
Just had my dishwasher break down totally 😱 how I miss it, new one coming Tuesday!
I am going to be listening to Maggie O’Farrell’s new novel Land on Radio Four starting tonight at 22.45 and you can also hear on Sounds. The narrator Brian Gleeson has a wonderful voice can’t wait
Congratulations on reclaiming your kitchen; I bet it’s a wonderful feeling. Isn’t Sirga magnificent? I wonder what the summer equivalent of the Suduko packing method is? I’m really late to this but I’ve recently stumbled on Gyles Brandreth’s podcast, Rosebud, and I’m fascinated. He lets his interviewees speak and lets the conversation meander. For reading I wanted something gentle so I’m rereading the Miss Buncle books. The first two from Persephone and the last from Abe.
Rosebud has been on my list to listen for ages…thank you for this timely reminder and I think you could use that packing method in any season, although obvs in summer you would want to add bathing gear?

Ordered! Thank you Lois!
Ann Patchett’s new novel Whistler is wonderful!
Thank you Sue!
