Every word of this is perfect - my daughter is impossibly 19, leave the trees unpollarded, and please may I have a pastry the size of my shoe. Happy Parising

I thought v seriously about buying the giant pastries but the thought of measly British taking them away at customs gave me pause. I’d have to stand there and eat them all up

I’m hoping being a granny will be marginally less terrifying?

I've just become a Grammy, 6 months ago nearly, and can report it's a complete delight in a way that parenting wasn't quite. Keep breathing and doing your own thing!

All will be well ! I had same things with my daughters. One also had an eating disorder for a long time. They are now in there mid late 20’s and I feel like I’m getting them back. They’ve morphed from aliens to lovely open young women. It’s such a surprise. I thought they’d be scarred from my mothering but they are well balanced, intelligent, savvy empathetic and ok !!! She will be too. X

Yes as much as we try to shape them from infancy, children mostly end up doing their own thing. Which is exactly how it should be I suppose. It definitely makes for an adventure!

Your Paris era sounds like something from a novel, how wonderful! Also I completely agree with you regarding the obliteration of every living thing on the pavement. A ridiculous Sisyphean task of ever there was one.
