I know it's terribly British to talk about the weather but I've also noticed how it's frowned upon to complain about the 'good' weather we've been having (weeks of hot, dry, sunny weather). However, I have to agree with you, I am loving the cooler temps and of course rejoiced at the rain! I cannot do ANYTHING when it's hot and just want to shut myself away in a dark room.

Re expensive tops for teenagers -- my experience was after the teenage excitement wore off (and your own satisfaction at pleasing your teenager has been replaced by frustration that she never wears the damn thing) it will be possible for you claim it for your own wardrobe. Thus justifying an expensive purchase you'd never have allowed yourself in the first place!
Love the creeping thyme but do keep an eye on the Soleirolia. Once it gets to the edge of your terrace it may go feral and try to implement world domination. And once those tiny thread roots get a hold… Off to Cartier tomorrow - am I totally shallow for looking forward to the shop as much as tiaras? Yes, thought so! Xx
