Last Minute Presents...
...that you can buy in bed!
Last minute presents!
Here are some suggestions because you may have forgotten about someone important, and you want them to feel loved and thought about without the hellish reality of last minute Christmas shopping.
Absolutely and of COURSE:
A membership to The Garden Collective.
Here is a very special discount to a year’s membership that you can give to someone you love who enjoys gardens or gardening. I listen to it every day and I’m so glad to be writing a piece every month there, which you can also listen to while you make your breakfast or walk the dog. Your lucky recipient will be emailed if you wish (no prices shown!) and there is a nice printable thing you can give them, all tied up with a bow.
For Book Lovers:
Backstory tailored subscription.
This is not just a matter of getting sent a book every month, this is a tailored subscription service which includes you telling them about the person you’re buying for, and then one of the brilliant people there will choose the titles and write a postcard with why they’ve picked them. They can send outside the UK too, and you can choose from three month, six month or yearly subscriptions.
For learners:
Create Academy One Year All Access Pass
I’ve bought several courses from Create Academy since it began and I would LOVE this All Access Pass, where you can see everything for one fixed price. I particularly loved Rita Konig’s interior design course, but there are so many different ones to choose from. If you have someone who is creative then this is a truly excellent present.
For someone beloved:
Dinner and movie. No links here because we all live in different places, but if you’re struggling because you’ve forgotten the most important person in your life and you meant to get her an emerald or him a cashmere scarf but didn’t quite get around to it then the old favourite of dinner and a movie remains a REALLY GOOD OPTION because, well, it’s a DATE isn’t it, and it’s you two, together and that’s lovely. I will also add that if you have married children, this is a fantastic present for them too.
For everyone:
It’s impossible to subscribe to everyone we want to read on Substack; we’d have to mortgage a kidney wouldn’t we, but giving the present of a Substack subscription to somebody who may never have heard of this platform is a great way to support everybody who writes here I think, as they can then go foraging for other writing on their own.
I have quite a number of paid subscriptions here, and I mention them often in my own writing here, but below is a list of Substacks to which I would really LOVE to subscribe in the future. I’ll let you click on each one and read about them, but suffice to say, there’s something for everyone here.
And finally, here is my shop, to which I keep adding, and which is full of lovely things.
Enough!
I am sending you BLESSINGS for Christmas. I hope that whatever you’re doing, and whomever you are with, that it is joyful, peaceful, and full of light and fun. I love this painting by Geertjen tot Sint Jans. I particularly love the cow and the donkey staring at this luminous glowing baby Jesus.
