Bulb Table Dreams: An Update
Good morning!
Please do click the ‘heart’ down at the bottom of this post if you like it. - THANK YOU.
I had a different post for today which isn’t where I want it to be yet, so here, instead, is an update from my tiny bulb table. You may remember that back in October I planted up every single pot I had in hopes of something approximating Mr Don’s table of joy. Here we are today, 20th January. The garden is otherwise pretty un-inviting; there is mud and the meadow is squashed, and obviously the temperature is baltic. but look at the new shoots!
Bulbs peeping through the gravel in my pots include:
Muscari (grape hyacinth)
Narcissi ‘tete a tete’ (small daffodil)
Fritillaria meleagris (snakes head fritillary)
Crocus
Iris reticulata (tiny iris)
Scilla siberica
The idea is to achieve something like this:
It’s hard to imagine now, but let’s wait and see. I’m reminded by this picture to do some single hyacinths if I can possibly find them, and also to beef things up with some frilly primula. What think you? Am I getting there?
A couple of close-ups
How are your tiny bulb ambitions shaping up?
Back soon

Can’t wait to see your table of bulbs later in March. Pesky squirrel monsters play havoc with my pots. Sarah Raven tulips are their favourites!
It’s going to be simply lovely. Definitely add some gold-laced and silver-laced primulas and tuck some auriculas in for their funny little Victorian faces. Some have a faint honey fragrance too…
